GO Texas Tech

So I had a pretty exciting day today. First off, one of our professors that we have really come to know well and get along with worked for about 10 year at Indiana University, about the same time that Coach Bob Knight was coaching the team. So it just happened they got to know each other pretty good and became good friends. Pretty neat story in itself. So today Dr. Chang came over and grabbed me and a couple of my friends, he does that quite a bit just to shoot the breeze with us, but today he told us to follow him, he had some stuff for us. So we followed him into his office and he gave us each a folder. After looking at the folder trying to figure out what the heck it was we opened it up, and sure enough it was picture of Bobby Knight. Dr. Chang had called him up, and asked for a little something for us. So Bob Knight sent a picture of himself that he had personally autographed and signed to each one of us. Yea, that is pretty sweet to know that one of, if not the best college coach to coach the game signed a picture for us. So of course I have it hanging on my wall now, it looks pretty good.
That was just the beginning of a sweet day. After that he asked if we wanted to go to lunch and he said he was buying. He takes us out occasionally, yea he's a pretty cool guy. He always takes us to some small local joint that he knows about that is always delicious. So today he took us to a restaurant called the Cozy Corner. It is a down home old southern style barbecue joint run by a really nice lady who cooks some amazing barbecue, of which she is famous for her barbecued cornish game hen, sounds good huh. Well, as we were ordering our pulled pork sandwiches a camera crew came in and started setting up. Of course we were trying to figure out why a news crew would be here. Next thing we know this guy comes over with some sheets of paper and says, Hey guys, were doing a show for the Food network, the show is called diners, drive ins and dives, and we were wondering if you guys wanted to be on the show. So of course we said yea, we've got to get our ten minutes of fame. After we got our meals they took video of us eating the food, then they went around the table and asked each of us what we liked about food, how the barbecue was, what we thought of Memphis barbecue, and some other questions similar to that. It was pretty fun. So to make a long story short, my national television premier should air sometime in April on the Food network. I'll be sure to keep everyone posted on when it shows up. It was pretty fun, being part of a show. The funny thing is that I watch the Food network quite a bit,and the night before last I had been watching this very show, diners, drive ins and dives, and was thinking that it was a fun show to watch, and now I am going to be on it. Yea, I'm pretty much a star now. Won't be long before the big money starts rolling in.
Well, that was my eventful day. I'm sure Kerie will have some fun stuff to add as well.
Hope everyone is having fun,
Till next time, stay warm and cozy.
Jared
